Services Operational Leadership and Management Training
Management training for the people who run the work
Leadership development matters. Building self awareness, trust and influence makes better leaders, and there are many excellent providers who do it well.
But leading a team also has an operational side: making sense of what is happening around the team, working with the people who matter, deciding what deserves attention, and fixing problems at their source rather than patching them. That side is often forgotten, and it is our focus. Operational leadership sits alongside your leadership development, not instead of it.
Strong managers need both. Most programs cover the first.
Sound familiar?
Good people are promoted for being good at the work. Nobody teaches them how to run it.
Your best specialists became managers, and are still doing the specialist job
Managers react to whatever lands on their desk, rather than what matters most
Decisions are made on gut feel, while useful reports and data go unread
The same problems keep coming back, because only the symptoms get fixed
Changes elsewhere in the organisation catch teams by surprise
Key stakeholders are missed, or brought in too late
What managers learn to do
Six modules, three stages: understand, decide, improve
Each module is built around one question managers face every week, and practised on real work from your own operations.
Analyse Your Environment
What’s happening around us?
Read the wider context: organisational priorities, pressures, regulation and change affecting the team.
Work With Stakeholders
Who matters?
Map who has influence and interest, and work well up, down and across the organisation.
Plan & Prioritise
What deserves attention?
Decide what deserves attention, set clear priorities and organise the team’s work around them.
Use Data to Decide
What does the evidence tell us?
Read reports and turn numbers into practical, defensible decisions.
Identify Root Causes
Why is this happening?
Look past the symptoms to find what is really driving a problem.
Improve Processes
What should change?
Redesign how work gets done, and make the change stick.

Questions people usually ask
Does this replace our leadership development program?
No. It is designed to sit beside it. Leadership development builds how managers lead people. Operational leadership builds how they run the work. We are happy to work alongside the provider you already use, or to suggest a few if you need one.
How is this different from other leadership programs?
We focus on the mechanics of running the work: understanding the environment, working with stakeholders, prioritising, using evidence, and improving how work gets done. The people side is never ignored, and is always tied to the practical situations managers face each week.
Do managers need a data or analysis background?
No. The modules use plain, practical tools, applied to the reports and problems your managers already deal with.
Can it be tailored to our organisation?
Yes. We use your own processes, reports and examples, so the tools carry straight into daily work.
Are workshops in person?
Usually in person across Adelaide and South Australia, with online delivery available for distributed teams.
What is the capstone project?
In the full program, each participant applies the toolkit to a real issue in their own area, then presents it in the final integration session for feedback. The capstone work stays within your organisation. Tangerine Learn holds only our resources and templates.
What happens after the workshop?
Participants leave with tools and templates they can use the following week. In the full program, the capstone turns that practice into a real improvement in their own area.

Let's talk about the operational skills they need most, and the simplest way to build them.
